Here’s to 27.

Oil pours upon my head as I breathe in a new year with praise and thanksgiving, fresh from a night of prayer with loved ones. We ended yesterday evening breaking bread from our local Lebanese food market, touching and agreeing on the new season we are walking into together.

Another year alive, with 365 mornings of new mercies to look forward to. To behold this is quite honestly a polarizing contrast from the uncomfortable, but necessary transformations that took place over the course of the past several months. And yet, I’ve been both crowned and graced with even more time to live out the destiny that God has for me. Another year of becoming the girl He knew in my mother’s womb, and walking in communion with Him.

Something about today just feels different

From the heart to hearts with cherished friends over food and nature walks, to the blooming cherry blossom trees beckoning forth a new spring.

From the way the homemade tamales from the Farmer’s Market snatched my heart, the yellow lillies that are brightening up my apartment, to the victory I’ve been afforded by holding on to my faith that it will get better.

If there’s anything I’ve learned from 26 that I would bring into 27, it would be among these 10 things:

  1. Faith in my faith < Faith in Jesus’ faithfulness

2. Though they can’t do it for you, you can’t truly heal without community (I stand ten toes on this).

3. Embrace your season, and inquire God about the best ways to respond to it. He’ll totally surprise you with how many tools and resources are available.
4. Your gift(s) will make room for you.

5. Your relationship with and outlook towards money will change the moment you realize how loved and provided for that you are (I’ll definitely write more on this in the future).

6. Just do the thing you keep putting off. It’ll likely only take a few minutes.

7. Look for the answered prayers in the present. They’re clothing you right now.

8. A walk outside can refresh an entire day.

9. Life’s too short not to eat good food.

10. Learning to patiently shift into a “what’s the best that can happen?” mindset can restore hope in beautiful ways.

Here’s to new territories, new poetry, new memories, the late 20’s, and blooming gently into a new spring. 🌸

Sincerely,

Angelique.
